Calendar Fish Art Work by Nico

This is my art work to go on the 2010 calendar or cards. I coloured my Rainbow Fish using oil pastels. Can you spot the special silver scale that I painted on at the end? Orders for the calendars need to be given to Tracy in Room 11 by Friday 6th November along with the correct money.

How to make a volcano by Nico

How to Make a Volcano
We need:
cup
baking soda
red dye
vinegar

1. Put half a cup of baking soda in the volcano.
2. Put a spoon of red dye into the cup.
3. Put 2 spoons of vinegar into the cup.

Nico Paper Sculpture

We made paper sculptures thinking about colour, shape and space. Then we photographed them ourselves. Here are my thoughts about my sculpture:

I like this sculpture because it has lots of curls on it.

Autumn Leaves: Nico

The sketched leaf was the hardest because you needed to draw the lines and they were hard because I could not really see them. I like the printed leaf best because it has all the colours a real leaf has on it.

Nico: Mother's Day Card

We used finger prints to make the flowers and bees on these Mother’s Day cards. My mum can walk on stilts and sometimes she takes me to the Miyazu Gardens.

Nico: Maui and the Sun

We read the legend of Maui and the Sun and then coloured in our own maori sun designs. This is what I wanted to say about the legend.

Maui and the brothers decided to catch the sun.

Nico's Wiggle PIctures

To make our 'Wiggle" pictures firstly we painted a long, black, wiggly line starting on one side of the page and ending on the other side. The different parts of the line could touch but were not allowed to cross over. Next we used 4 different colours to paint in the spaces. We tried hard not to paint spaces next to each other the same colour. Finally we added texture using black and white paint and small patterns of dots, circles, waves, crosses and seagulls. In ICT we made another wiggle picture using Tuxpaint or Kidpix on the computer.

I like the lines on my picture because they are joining each other. I like the colours because they are not touching each other.

Nico's Scary Spider

We painted these spiders as part of our work on the sound 's'. I liked the web because it was white. Rosa liked my spongy spider: Nico.

Nico's caterpillar

Nico you did really well at using the Kidpix program to draw your caterpillar and the leaf. Thank you for helping our other Room 11 friends to learn to use the computer to draw as well. Tracy

I like the name with the star next to it the best because the 'N' is tall and the other letters are all short. - Nico 21/3/09

Nico's Planet

We made these planets as part of our work on the sound 'p'. Our buddies from Room 5 helped us to make the planet rings out of silver foil. We came up with the idea of displaying them alongside our rockets that we made when learning how to count back from 10. Come and check them out in Room 11.

Elmer The Elephant by Nico

As part of our work on the sound 'e' we read the story of Elmer the Elephant by David Mckee. Then we made our own pictures of Elmer using wax crayon and water colour dyes. I like my Elmer because I like it's colours. I would improve it by putting more colours on it.
