Haiku is an ancient form of Japanese poetry. The first line contains 5 syllables, the second has 7 syllables and the last line has 5 syllables again.

Fun, loud, wonderful
Beautiful, cracking

Calendar Fish Art Work by Will

This is my art work to go on the 2010 calendar or cards. I coloured my Rainbow Fish using oil pastels. Can you spot the special silver scale that I painted on at the end? Orders for the calendars need to be given to Tracy in Room 11 by Friday 6th November along with the correct money.

How to make a volcano by Will

How to Make a Volcano
We need:
cup
baking soda
red dye
vinegar


1. Put the cup into the volcano.
2. Put 2 spoons of baking soda into the volcano.
3. Put 1 spoon of red dye into the volcano.
4. Put 2 spoons of vinegar into the volcano.
5. Wait for the volcano to erupt.

Will Paper Sculpture

We made paper sculptures thinking about colour, shape and space. Then we photographed them ourselves. Here are my thoughts about my sculpture:

I love the sprial because it twists and turns.

Autumn Leaves: Will

They are red and brown and yellow with a bit of white. The printed leaf was the easiest to do. The wax rubbing was the hardest because it felt lfunny and lumpy

Will: Mother's Day Card

We used finger prints to make the flowers and bees on these Mother’s Day cards.

Will: Maui and the Sun

We read the legend of Maui and the Sun and then coloured in our own maori sun designs. This is what I wanted to say about the legend.

The sun went too fast so Maui put ropes on it to make it go slower.

Will's Wiggle Pictures

To make our 'Wiggle" pictures firstly we painted a long, black, wiggly line starting on one side of the page and ending on the other side. The different parts of the line could touch but were not allowed to cross over. Next we used 4 different colours to paint in the spaces. We tried hard not to paint spaces next to each other the same colour. Finally we added texture using black and white paint and small patterns of dots, circles, waves, crosses and seagulls. In ICT we made another wiggle picture using tuxpaint or kidpix on the computer.

I like the orange on the computer picture. On my painting I like the white wiggle. It was hard to draw the lines on the computer picture but easy to put the colours in using the "bucket fill" option

Will's Scary Spider

We painted these spiders as part of our work on the sound 's'. I liked the antenna because they are purple and long.

Will's caterpillar

I like the way you have made the yellow and black stripes. Next time we are on the computer have a go at using the 'fill' option. Tracy

Will's Planet

We made these planets as part of our work on the sound 'p'. Our buddies from Room 5 helped us to make the planet rings out of silver foil. We came up with the idea of displaying them alongside our rockets that we made when learning how to count back from 10. Come and check them out in Room 11.

Elmer The Elephant by Will

As part of our work on the sound 'e' we read the story of Elmer the Elephant by David Mckee. Then we made our own pictures of Elmer using wax crayon and water colour dyes. I like it's red trunk and I would improve it by making it fatter.
